On-topic:

Some of my heroes are runed and have insignas (on my necro mostly)... some don't and probably will never because I don't use the character often alone, like my paragon or my monk. Or my ele, which I never play beside solo farming; think some of his heroes are still at their original levels.

im stingy, most of my chars have elite armor, or at leas some pieces, but NEVER for my heroes. my monks all have scar eaters, my nukers have exuros will, and my rangers and warriors get /bonus weapons. i generally give my heroes any greens i get, or in some RARE circumstances i fill farm a green for em (Alems Remedy for my N/Rt) but my moral is if it aint free, they dont get it

all of my heros are pimped with runes/insignias. their wepons are from stuff i find and greenies which are dirt cheap. only my main toon has heros with elite armor. btw i have 7 pve toons.

All of my characters have pimped out HERO's. Nothing but the best for my guys, except they only get the +30 Health Runes not the +50, it's just too expensive.

I buy them minor vigor, minor att runes (except the expensive ones, like minor SR/minor DF, etc) and sups when necessary (death). I also buy insignia that are important, like bloodstained and usually one for chest (since it provides the most benefit) if I don't have one handy in storage.

That's the "standard" equipment. When I find upgrades, I upgrade heroes with more insignia, major vigors, minor soul reaping, and other more expensive stuff. The only thing I am too cheap to give them are sup vigors and perfect +30 or 20% chant mods.

For weapons, my physical heroes use 15^50 (or 15/stance when it makes sense), customized, with +29 or +28 mods. I have enough of that to go around. Caster heroes just use whatever staff matches their attribute (wanding ftw) and I try to put relevant mods on it. I usually keep in mind "olias on X char needs his staff upgraded" and whenever I find a fort head/wrapping I already know where it goes.

I try to not give my own weapons to heroes, especially heroes on a different character because a couple weeks ago I found a perfect r8 death jade staff on a necro on a character I never play... and I was wondering where that went a year ago. >.<

I pound my heroes with those free BMP weapons, even if I never get 15^50's for them.

I give them runes, but only cheap ones. Rarely give them runes that are worth over 500g.

I always do, but it is character specific and what I mean by that is that particular character which the heroes belong buys the candy for them. I do not take it out of my storage or from other toons to supply there equipment. I have found that works the best for me. It is easy to get carried away and spend a lot of money on them settign them up. I have found that helps me to control my spending.

One PvE character here, all heroes have full Survivor, Vitae, and Sup. vigor, along with two or three minor runes for their builds.

They also all have decent weapon sets, mostly what matches their armour, and they all have a L20 pet, one of each type

I runed and tricked out my heroes for a time, nice runes and BMP weapons to compliment their builds...then I realized that each one of my 10 characters was going to be lugging around 20 or more of these guys and suddenly the cost effective-ness of it didn't seem worth it at all.

as of now the only heroes with fully modded weapons and armor I have are Olias, Master of Whispers, and Livia....on my Necro...yes it's a beautiful vanquish

Anytime I'm going to use certain heroes, I fully equip them.
I don't equip any hero until I need so.

Most of the time they go just with /bonus weapons.

I lavish all my necro heros on all my chars with full sets of runes and insignias, including superior vigors, since I use them all the time. The rest of my heros get nothing though, except for a couple of random others on my main; on the rare occasions I use them, runes don't usually make mush of a difference.

All the heros I use have full survivor, minor vigor, vitea runes and whatever other minor runes they need for their attributes. (necros being the exception here -sup rune-)

Heroes are an extension of my character and my account:

Main char = all heroes fully tricked, spears on all casters, color matched spears to the necros (olias = black greater guardian, livia = red dragon spear, MoW = destroyer spear), green focus items for curses and death necros from sorrows furnace (bortaks or some such... looks great on olias), green focus on death and on restore necro. +armor insignia on all (torturer), alternate shield set for all for better armor/hp when needed, Sup primary rune (curses, death), Sup vigor, minor alternate runes.

I used to use melee weapons on my casters, but that's always a mistake on the necros. Give em spears, 100% ftw. Why spear? 33% longer dazed, 33% longer poison, 33% longer weakness, +5 energy, etc etc. Lots of good reasons to use a spear. I use a voltaic on my main necro.

Anyhow... yeah - I set up the heroes. I play the game to enjoy it. Party wipe =/= enjoyment. Breezing through any area makes me feel like I'm doing ok.

My hero philosophy is this:
High Armor, Ranged Weapons. In HM, high armor has done more to keep my party alive than high HP. High HP and low armor just is an energy drain. High Armor and middle or low HP is almost always a better result for HM vanquishing or HM missions.

The thing that kills heroes most are the long-distance nukes. They can kite and run from melee, or hand back a bit, and block, etc. So... heavy boss elemental nukes are killer. The only way to avoid a heavy nuke is interupt or mitigate it with armor.

They get everything they need. Sup Death Magic, Minor Vigors ....
